Blessed Hope Bible College is a ministry under the auspices of That Blessed Hope Evangelistic Association, Inc. Blessed Hope Bible College has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission International of Beebe, Arkansas. The college's philosophy of education is dedicated to fulfilling the scripture in Ephesians 4:11-15. "11. And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; 12. For the perfecting (and full equipping) of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; 13. Till we all come into the unity of faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullnesss of Christ; 14. That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things which is the head, even Christ."
The course objectives of the college are to first instill basic knowledge and understanding of the Bible on the Associate and Bachelor degree levels and to continue to Graduate School for those that desire higher education in Him. This knowledge and understanding should help the student in his/her pursuit of his/her God given purpose. Blessed Hope Bible College was founded in July 1996 as the Tampa branch of Jacksonville Theological Seminary. The founder of Blessed Hope Bible College, Bishop Elliott L. Johnson, was a chosen vessel for this endeavor. His God given vision for a quality, accredited Bible College in the Tampa Bay Area, to equip saints for ministry, fueled his drive to achieve this. God impressed upon his heart the scripture, "My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge"..Hosea, 4:6, and still perishing for the lack of vision..Proverbs 29:18. Knowing this, during much prayer and meditation the Holy Spirit showed him that one of the reasons was the lack of quality, local, "friendly" curriculum that could fit into the prospective student's busy schedules and their budget. Therefore, a low-cost tuition and payment plan was especially designed to reach the men and women of God seeking to "study to show themselves approved unto God."
After Bishop Elliott Johnson finished his course in August of 2007, Dr. Rosemary Johnson was given a passion from God to keep the vision alive by continuing to make the studies available to those who have a desire to well equip themselves to do the work of the ministry.
BHBC administrators can see there is a great desire across the nation for Bible knowledge and ministry preparation. Since 1979 the ministry motto for That Blessed Hope Evangelistic Assoc. Inc. has been "to be a blessing while there is yet time" and we are more dedicated today than ever before to be that blessing, as gifts to the body of Christ, while there is yet time.
